“A great way of networking with other managers
from different regions and exchanging views and ideas, and to understand and learn better practices to develop myself, and to help the club run more efficiently.”  2017 Delegate Feedback

Why should Stephen Boustead attend the GCMA 2019 Conference?

Do you need help to convince your board, committee or manager that you should attend the GCMA Conference this year?  If your manager or committee doesn't immediately see the benefit of investing in your attendance, then we’ve created a guide to help you.

How to form a business case for your attendance:

The decision to fund your attendance should be assessed as a business proposition; therefore, you’ll need to form a business case that puts the suggestion in a well-reasoned and well-formulated way.

1. Explain the Return On Investment (ROI); this will show your club what they can expect to gain in return for investing in your education and professional development. If it’s possible to assign a monetary value to this then that’s even better. This might include:

Learning new strategies and tactics to employ at your club to grow the bottom line

Understanding the opportunities for growth at your club

An opportunity to meet potential suppliers for equipment or services (like those who supply irrigation, software systems, marketing, health and safety etc) who could save, or generate, your club significant sums of money

Shortcut the club’s learning curve and avoid costly pitfalls by speaking to peers who have overcome similar challenges

2. Highlight the benefits for both parties. This might include one or more of the following points:

People who undertake some form of CPD are known to have higher rates of productivity and confidence

The club will gain a more efficient staff member with greater knowledge to share among the team

Upskilling current staff is cheaper than employing new people

3. The GCMA Conference is the marquee event of our educational calendar:

As a GCMA member, these three days offer the greatest chance to learn new skills, discover new strategies, and grow your motivation

Networking opportunities are second to none – offering the chance to make invaluable connections with your peers, and other industry professionals, that will benefit the club all year round.

The skills that you pick up over Conference will also allow you to make the most of GCMA membership throughout the year through increased engagement
